Robert Bristow, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Bristow MD (Toronto), PhD (Medical Biophysics, Toronto), FRCPC is currently
a Clinician-Scientist and Associate Professor with appointments within
the Departments of Radiation Oncology and Medical Biophysics at the University
of Toronto. He is a Senior Scientist at the Ontario Cancer Institute (Applied Molecular Oncology Division) and a GU Radiation Oncologist at the Princess Margaret Hospital (University Health Network).

His primary research interests are in DNA damage responses and repair, prostate cancer carcinogenesis and prostate cancer treatment response.  

His has leadership roles in:

  • Co-Administrator, Canadian Prostate Cancer BioResearch Network
  • (CPCRI-funded national molecular prostate cancer research network)
  • Chair, Scientific and Medical Advisory Board of the Prostate Cancer Research
  • Foundation of Canada.
  • Head, PMH Prostate Cancer Research Program
  • Chair, Translational Biology Group for CARO
  • Editor, 4th Edition Basic Science of Oncology
  • Twice a Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Awardee

He has been a member of NCIC and NIH Biomedical Awards Review Panels,
the US Army Prostate Program Review Panel and is the Chair of the Scientific
and Medical Advisory Board of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation
of Canada.

He has over 120 published papers, abstracts and book chapters and has been
an Invited Speaker or Visiting Professor on more than 60 occasions. He was made
a Canadian Cancer Society Research Scientist in 2004.
