To capitalize on the strength of our multidisciplinary network, one approach to biomarker discovery taken by the OCBN is to apply numerous sample types and preparations in combination with multiple parallel detection technologies to provide a comprehensive scan of possible biomarker candidates. Markers that are identified by multiple approaches are then selected for further development and validation, with the ultimate
aim of developing a clinical tool.

  • Our members are leading experts in the application of ‘omic’ technologies and methods to the discovery of biomarkers.
    • The OCBN research platforms include a comprehensive collection of mass spectrometers from leading manufacturers using a full array of sources and analytic techniques.
    • This breadth of technologies is essential for our multi-filter approach to find and employ the best platforms for each distinct project and therefore discover more reliable results.
  • Our network includes world-class clinical researchers with access to patients and clinical samples across all types of cancers.

At the OCBN we are able to leverage our membership’s expertise in basic sciences, translational sciences, clinical sciences, and drug development to facilitate the discovery and development of cancer-relevant biomarkers.
