and email to LabManager@ocbn.ca

Samples may be delivered to:

MaRS Centre, South Tower, suite 200
101 College Street, Toronto,
Ontario M5G 1L7
(416) 673-6694

How to prepare my samples for mass spec analysis?

Samples should be dissolved in water, organic solvents containing 0.1% to 5% organic acids (TFA, formic acid, and acetic acid). Also, see protocols.

What's the requirement for sample concentration?

Peptide: >100 fmol/µl

Protein: >1 pmol/µl

Volume: >5 µl

What kinds of buffers can I use for my samples?

  1. Low levels (<20 mM) of salts, buffers, and detergents can be used for MALDI-TOF analysis.
  2. Salts and detergents cannot be used for ESI-MS analysis.
  3. Surfactants such as DMSO and DMF cannot be used.

What kind of results do I receive?

For molecular weight determination and MS/MS analysis, you'll receive a hard copy of the spectrum and/or chromatogram and basic interpretation.

For protein ID, we will provide you with a hard copy of the database search result and the web site link.
